- Camera base unit
- 6ft (1.8m) connector cable
- User guide

You can connect the camera base to the computer by the USB cable, or simply unplug the webcam from its base and connect it directly to a USB port by its flexible neck – great for laptops! The base is simply an easy way to have HUE stand upright on its own on a desktop or other flat surface.
HUE works with a wide range of video conferencing and picture editing software. Any software that is designed to work with a USB camera should work using HUE as its video input source, from Google Hangouts to FaceTime to Skype.
HUE works with popular third party video chat software such as Skype (Windows/Mac), Google Hangouts (Windows/Mac), AIM® (Windows only), FaceTime (Mac only) and Yahoo!® Messenger (Windows/Mac). Pick which video chat network you wish to join, download the software from their website and follow their setup instructions. Make sure you set HUE as your camera and microphone in the new program's settings, then you're ready to chat!
Yes! HUE is compatible out of the box with Skype for Windows and Mac OS X. As soon as you connect HUE to the computer, it is ready to start free video chats worldwide on the Skype network.
HUE supports taking still pictures. If you have the extra drivers installed on Windows, the button on the back of the camera will launch the Snapshot function if the camera is in use. Please see the Trouble-Shooting Guide for further instructions. HUE cannot take pictures when not plugged into a computer and does not have internal storage memory to save images.
We have had feedback from many educators who are using HUE as a document camera in their classrooms with great success. Because the webcam is plug and play and so compact, it is perfect for use alongside smartboards and interactive whiteboards to show documents, science experiences or artwork to the class. The software which comes with HUE will display a live video image on your screen which you can then project through the computer as normal.
HUE comes with a built-in microphone.
For full details please see the product specification page.
Every HUE comes with an installation CD for Windows and Mac OS X. Updated software may be downloaded from the HUE drivers page. Mac users can also use HUE in QuickTime and PhotoBooth without installing any extra software.
HUE will be installed automatically a few seconds after it's connected, and if you want to install the extra drivers you can begin installation as soon as the computer has recognized the camera. If you have an older model, insert the Install CD into your computer before connecting your HUE. Follow the Installshield Wizard. After you have completed installing the camera software, connect HUE to an available USB port on your computer and you’re ready to go. Please contact your retailer if you need more instructions.
AMCap is a program installed with HUE on Windows systems. You may use it to take still pictures or record video using HUE. AMCap is not required to use HUE. It may be uninstalled or deleted without affecting HUE. To remove the software from your system:
- Delete the AMCap shortcut from your desktop
- Go to your Windows install drive (the C: drive by default) and delete the program called amcap.exe in the Windows folder
In AMCap select Video Capture Filter… from the Options menu to adjust settings to your personal preferences.
HUE will be automatically installed when it's connected to a Mac; no additional software is required. If you have a very old camera and are using OS X 10.5 or earlier, insert the driver CD into your computer before connecting HUE. Click the WebCam Driver Install.pkg icon to launch the installer. Follow the on screen instructions to install the software. You can then connect HUE to an available USB port on your computer and you're ready to go. Please contact your retailer if you need more instructions.
We have heard from fans using HUE with great success as a visualizer, document camera, vlog camera and even for lunar photography. Let us know how you use yours!
WebCam Monitor is the Mac software installed with the webcam instead of AMCap. You can use it to record video using HUE. If you're using Mac OS X 10.6 or later, we recommend the built-in version of QuickTime for recording instead.
